Eric Lerner
Eric Lerner, CPA, is the director of quality control at Gettry Marcus CPA, P.C. He provides accounting, auditing, litigation & forensic, and tax services to clients ranging from middle market closely-held businesses to large public companies. Mr. Lerner is highly experienced as a quality control professional and as an external client server. His expertise includes commercial and international trade enterprises, manufacturers, wholesalers & distributors, global transportation groups, non-profits, universities, schools (including charters), healthcare, construction, car dealerships, real estate, hotels, financial services, 401K/defined benefit plans (including multi-employer), and more. Mr. Lerner has also testified in the federal courts, treasury, arbitration, state courts, and more. He was one of two expert witnesses in the 7th largest federal jury award in the United States in 2006 and has served as a binding accounting arbitrator.
Mr. Lerner directs the technical review and quality control department by overseeing the risk and technical review of all attest services. He also monitors and enhances the firm’s policies and procedures for accounting and auditing matters, and is responsible for staff training, presentation of in-house (and external) seminars, including best practices and CPE. Mr. Lerner performs technical accounting and audit research for the firm’s Quality Control Committee and is involved in the firm’s annual internal inspections and also its peer review. Mr. Lerner also has performed external peer reviews and numerous inspections in national firms.
A graduate of Queens College, Mr. Lerner is a member of the American Institute of Public Accountants, New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants (NYSSCPA), and New Jersey State Society of Certified Public Accountants. He currently serves on the NYSSCPA Quality Control and Technical Reviewers Group and is a past member of the following NYSSCPA Committees – Forensic and Litigation, SEC and International Tax.
