Gettry Marcus Expands Tax Services Group

Gettry Marcus CPA, P.C. is pleased to announce the addition of Robert Thee, Senior Tax Manager, and Jill Scher, Tax Manager, to the firm’s tax services group located in Woodbury, Long Island. Mr. Thee and Ms. Scher each bring a breadth of experience to further strengthen Gettry Marcus’ premier tax team.

“Adding the skills that Robert and Jill bring to Gettry Marcus enables us to further expand our expertise in both the corporate and high net worth areas,” said Robin Rokuson, partner-in-charge of the firm’s tax department.

Mr. Thee, a resident of West Hempstead, has been in tax practice for over 30 years, working extensively in consulting and compliance for closely held businesses and their owners. He has serviced clients involved in a broad range of industries including wholesalers, manufacturers, retailers and financial service companies, as well as high net-worth individuals, estates and trusts.

As an active member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the New York State Society of CPA’s (NYSSCPA), Mr. Thee serves on the Tax, Partnership and LLC committees for these associations. He has also lectured for the Foundation for Accounting Education and has been published in The CPA Journal. Mr. Thee holds a BBA in Accounting and an MS in Taxation from Baruch.

Prior to joining Gettry Marcus, Mr. Thee worked at CBIZ MHM, LLC in Manhattan as a tax director. Ms. Scher, a resident of Dix Hills, brings over 15 years of public and private accounting experience. She has worked with a diverse client base of midsize businesses in various industries including fashion, pharmaceutical, green energy and publishing. In addition, Ms. Scher’s areas of expertise include tax compliance, tax consulting, transaction structuring and tax representation. She also trains accounting professionals on technical tax topics and co-chairs the Attorneys and Accountants Joint Committee for the Nassau Chapter of the New York State Society of CPAs. Ms. Scher holds a BS in Accounting and an MS in Taxation, both from the State University of New York at Albany.

Prior to joining Gettry Marcus, Ms. Scher worked at Marcum LLP in Long Island as a tax manager.
