Partner Howard Fine Participates In CNA Panel

Howard Fine of Gettry Marcus CPA, P.C. was one of three panelists in a video webcast, “Accountant’s Liability—Raise Your Risk I.Q.,” on Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2014. Mr. Fine is the firm’s Partner-in-Charge of its Accounting & Auditing Group and Employee Benefit Plan Audit Group.

Mr. Fine participated along with CNA, the endorsed underwriter for the AICPA Professional Liability Insurance Program, in an interactive panel discussion about avoiding liability issues related to financial statement services and other services. Viewers learned risk-management techniques to incorporate into daily and CPE credit. CNA policyholders were given the opportunity to earn a premium credit of 7.5 percent on their AICPA Professional Liability Insurance policy over three consecutive years.

Howard Fine, CPA/CFF /ABV, CVA is a SUNY Binghamton graduate with more than 30 years of experience providing accounting, auditing and tax services to middle-market, closely held businesses. He is a professional member of the National Association of Certified Valuators and Analysts, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants. He received the Long Island Business News’ 2013 “Around 50 Award,” which recognizes and honors individuals for their leadership in business, support of professional and not-for-profit organizations, and commitment to the needs of the local community.

The webcast was held for AICPA public and CNA policyholders. The discussion addressed risk control considerations facing practice management such as firm-wide quality control, client engagement and continuance, professional liability risk exposures related to financial misstatements, disclosure errors and failure to detect theft and fraud. In addition, the panel covered risk management considerations associated with the quality control cycle.
